RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS (KIDNEY ARTERY)

The prevalence of high blood pressure in adults is around 30%.

The underlying cause of high blood pressure is unknown in most patients.
Smoking, obesity, decreased physical activity, excessive use of salt, excessive alcohol consumption, age, and genetic causes are thought to play a role in high blood pressure.

In addition, it is thought that stenosis of the renal vessels causes aldosterone hormone secretion from the adrenal glands and causes high blood pressure.
Especially in patients with high drug-resistant blood pressure and taking many (2-3) blood pressure medications, the underlying renal vascular disease should be investigated.

In the treatment, the stent is placed in this area by the closed angiographic method and the aim is to reach the normal width of the vessel.

After treatment, a significant number of patients have decreased - normalized blood pressure and decreased the amount of blood pressure medication needed.

In addition, it has a more limited effect and improves renal function values.
The patients are kept under observation overnight after the procedure and then discharged.
